LENTEN BOOK CLUB

To help our community deepen our walk with Christ, we will be offering a Lenten book club that will meet on Wednesdays at noon at Our Savior's Lutheran Church on the following days:
• March 13

• March 20
• March 27
• April 3
• April 10

Together, we will explore the following book:

The love of God crosses all boundaries.
Every. Single. One.

Every day, millions of people lament the loss of civility, respect, and hope, and they wonder if it's possible to cultivate a love big enough to overthrow hate and heal our hurts. With courage, authenticity, and relevance, Jacqueline A. Bussie proclaims, "Yes! It's possible!" and urges readers to widen love's wingspan and to love as God loves--without limits or exceptions.

In Love Without Limits, Bussie imparts practical solutions for people of faith who yearn to love across division and difference in these troubled times. Through poignant personal memoir, engaging theological reflection, inspiring true stories of boundary-busting friendships, creative readings of scripture, and surprising shout-outs to some of love's unsung heroes, Bussie challenges readers to answer God's call to practice a love so deep, it subverts the social order; so radical, it scandalizes the powerful; so vast, it excludes no one.

"A must-read for all Christians interested in inclusivity for their communities."
—Publishers Weekly

"This is a book about love, but not just any love. It's about cosmic love, deep-faith love, break-down-walls love. Every page pulses with that same radical love. Read it and let the contents pour into you and make you better."
—Eboo Patel, author of Acts of Faith

Biography
Dr. Jacqueline Bussie is an author, professor, theologian, public speaker, and student of life in all its messy beauty. Jacqueline teaches religion and theology classes at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, where she also serves as the Director of the Forum on Faith and Life. Every day she is amazed and grateful that she actually gets paid to do the three things she loves most: 1) interact with incredible students, 2) write, and 3) try to make the world a more compassionate place.

In her free time, Jacqueline loves to: read books, ride in the front car of roller coasters, take ballroom dance classes with her husband, and travel to any place she has never been before. She is a huge fan of long walks, laughter, the band Bon Iver, the smell of honeysuckle on a hot day, and her husband's fantastic fajitas. Her favorite place to write is next to any body of water. Though Jacqueline hails from Florida, she now lives in Fargo, North Dakota--which is all the proof she needs that the Divine has a sense of humor.

TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF HOLY HILARITY SUNDAY

It has been ten years since Our Savior's Lutheran started celebrating Holy Hilarity on the Sunday after Easter. So for the service this year, a big celebration was held. The Waukon Standard printed this article about the event. Special T-shirts were printed up for the occasion, banners were hung along with helium balloons and an original Holy Hilarity song by Paula Rathbun and Pastor Laura Gentry were unveiled. The song is in the video below.

It was, indeed, a spectacular celebration of the resurrection of Christ. Below are pictures. If you post your own pics on social media, please use the hashtag: #ourhappychurch to help us share the joy of the Lord.
